Teachers and Twitter

Why is Twitter so popular with teachers?  When I was a consultant for TeachersConnect, I was asked to find out the answer to this question.  By perusing the edchat #bfc530 – a 5:30am meetup for educators on Twitter – I found they  tweet to support their peers with information, encouragement, inspiration and when needed, to say, “I’ve been there too.”  Additionally, Twitter serves as a place where teachers can ask for and receive help with technology, resources, and professional development and job opportunities.  This project was used for researching how TeachersConnect’s product – online communities for teachers – could fit into its users’ lives.
